What a privilege it was to be friends with Elvina! She was the first person to welcome me when I first came to Holy Trinity and I could count on a hug from her every Sunday. For several years, I got to give her a lift to and from church when she didn't walk there herself! I think Elvina knew just about everyone in her neighborhood. She was involved, caring, and the most positive person I have ever known. When I couldn't make it to Holy Trinity because I was helping to care for a parent who was ill, Elvina would call to see how I was doing. She'd give me updates on what was happening at church and we'd talk politics (she was very well-connected). Elvina was a model for me of faithfulness, compassion, and welcome. I miss her hugs and her magnificent smile.
